The United States is a country of many contradictions. There are cosmopolitan cities where one can engulf themselves in arts and culture, rural areas where you can almost hear the wheat growing and hundreds if not thousands of small and large towns that are worth a stop. One of the most popular tourist destinations in the U.S. is her spectacular National Parks System.

California

In California, step into a forest primeval at Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks. Stretch your neck to see the tops of the ancient Sequoia trees and climb mountains of immense size. If you are ready to experience a real desert climate then head to Death Valley National Park. It is said to be one of the driest and hottest deserts in the world.

Arizona

One of the most popular tourist destinations in Arizona is the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon has something for everyone. Whether you want to rough it and sleep in a tent or go the whole “Lodge” experience there is wildlife in abundance and spectacular sights to see. Nearby is the Sunset Crater Volcano which traces its roots to the years between 1040 and 1100 A.D.

Florida

In Florida, visitors can explore one of the biggest subtropical wildernesses that are found in the United States. Endangered and rare species make The Everglades National Park their home. It’s an International Biosphere Reserve, a world Heritage Site and considered to be a Wetland of International Importance. It is a significant site not just for America, but for the world.

As the world population grows larger its natural regions are shrinking and it’s good to know there are some places in the world that will stay untouched and pristine.
